How to use less than 9 words to attract any potential customer you find online.

Do you know why most businesses marketing efforts go to waste?

Most people do not know what the answer is. I used to think I knew it. Annoyingly, the answer has probably been staring you in the face.

We have all been there. Sat staring at the computer screen. Pulling out our hair. Thinking to ourselves: why am I not attracting the perfect clientele?

Let me reassure you. You are not the problem here. Most likely your product or service isn’t the problem either.

The problem is that what you have been told to do by countless “specialists”.

Here’s an easier to grasp scenario first:

You have agreed to meet a friend. You decide to meet at the train station. Its rush hour, people are as far as the eye can see, and there is a sea of noise that encompasses you. Unfortunately for you there was no agreed upon location in the station to meet, and your phone just died.

How do you get the attention of your friend?

You could start going up to everyone you pass asking if they had seen them. But there’s hundreds if not thousands of people coming and going. Not practical by any means.

You could just hope that you’ll bump into them in the crowd. But the odds of this working out when you are both walking around are very slim.

What is the best method?

Shout out their name.

Of course, no easier way. Now I can guess what you are thinking right now. What on earth has this got to do with getting people to pay attention to my business?

I am glad you asked. Because the principle for finding your friend in a crowd is the same as finding your perfect clients.

Perfect client pitfall.

When I work with clients I ask a lot of questions. One of the first and most important is “who is your ideal customer?”

Some know this well.

Whereas others will come out with “we sell to everyone and anyone”.

Nope. No, you don’t. And I’ll tell you why that is:

1.      Not everyone needs your product or service.

2.      If you try and appeal to everyone, you’ll end up appealing to no one.

The perfect client has a burning desire that you can resolve. You have what they want.

In the world of marketing this is the itch that you must scratch. A problem that must be solved ASAP.

Perfect clientele magnet

You have a split second to make an impression on a potential customer. If you lose their attention. That’s it. You are done for.

Similarly, when you watch a trailer to a movie. If it doesn’t excite you and hook you in. Why would you go to the cinema and watch it?

You want to move the needle for the people who need what you are selling.

The WORST way to do this is to just throw out an ad that is a basic list of what you do. No one is jumping off their chairs at a bland, vanilla ad like that.

You want people to be thinking: “damn! This is totally what I needed. These people just understand me”.

There is a lot of noise out there these days. Don’t be scared to be one of the loudest.

The only way that people will listen. And want to continue listening. Is through your opening line. Your headline.
