If You Do This, You Will Never Have to Worry About Web Traffic Ever Again

Did you know that there are over 5 billion websites on the internet. Not only that, but this number grows by the 10’s of thousands every single day.

Most people who haven’t been under a rock in the 21st century know the importance of having a website. Usually that is as far as people go. They have a website and hope people will find it. The market is saturated. How do you make your business stand out amongst the rest?

The common misconception is that this is an expensive endeavour. In this article will uncover industry secrets that will have your website inundated with so much traffic that the Google Analytics team will be calling you to find out what’s going on.

Where Do You Even Start to Increase Web Traffic?

People start focusing on the wrong things when trying to increase web traffic. You need to learn to walk before you can start running. Before you start thinking with all things Search Optimisation Engine (SEO), let’s look at some simpler initial steps.

It is no mystery that we all use our phones a lot more these days. If your website is only optimised for desktop viewing, then this needs to be your first port of call. More people use their phones to look at websites than they do their computers these days.

If someone looks at your website on their phone and it’s clunky and visually unappealing then they won’t stay on it for long. If this becomes a common theme your site won’t rank highly on search engines.

All This Work for Web Traffic, Let’s Take a NAP

You want to make sure that your website is linked to your Google Business Profile (GBP). This however is not enough. You need to fully optimise your GBP and have all your NAP (Name, Address, Phone number) information filled in and up to date.

If you don’t have photos, reviews, or answer questions then you come across as untrustworthy and illegitimate. By having your GBP optimised you are 7x more likely to have visits to your business profile. In turn increasing your website's traffic.

How You Can Get Google to Favour Your Site

Contrary to popular belief, Google wants to help rank your website highly. However, it cannot do this without knowing what it should be ranking you highly for.

The easiest way to tell Google this is by having a sitemap. This is your website's layout and it shows how your web pages are linked together. Google Search Console makes this super easy to submit and shows you exactly what is required.

Let’s look at some SEO. The first aspect is local SEO. As local businesses people will typically search “[business type] in [area]” when they are looking for a particular product or service. This is where your website and its pages need to be titled to fit such criteria. You cannot simply have “[company name] home”. You must add further details e.g., “[company name] | [area] – [service] | [page type]”.

Secondary to this is something known as the meta tag description. This is when you search on Google, and you have the block of text underneath the title and URL. You need to have a concise (approx. 150 characters) summary explaining what your page is for. This should include keywords for your industry and area. The more specific you can be, the better.

Easy Win Bonuses to Increase Web Traffic

If you want even more web traffic you need to show Google you are the expert in your field. The best way is through a blog page. Similar to this article you are reading right now, you need to share your industry knowledge. This only needs to be 600-800 words highlighting a specific aspect of your business.

When it comes to blogs, remember to sprinkle in some industry and location keywords in both the title and body of the blog. SEO paired with blogs is a super hack for web traffic. Even further supercharged when you have the blogs on your sitemap from earlier.

Another easy little trick is called linking. Part 1 is called ‘internal linking’. This is where you link your pages together without just using the navigation pane at the top of your website. You do this using Call To Action (CTA) buttons e.g., “contact us”, “find out more” etc.

Part 2 is ‘external links’. These send people away you’re your site. Warning: minimise these as you want external sources to guide people to your site, not the other way round. Any links you do have should be to reputable sources and should NEVER lead to a competitor site. Examples include your social media links or well-known companies that you have worked with.

Utilising Other Platforms and Businesses to Boost Your Web Traffic

It should be no surprise that having a good social media presence helps your business. You want to make sure that you are providing high quality and value content on your pages.

Don’t be shy about reminding people to get in touch with you or to check out your website in your posts. Most people will want to see more than a couple posts about your business before making a buying decision. Include the link in your posts or direct people to your bio. Either or, make sure you have your website link in your page’s description.

There is actually a 3rd type of link that you want for your website. It is called the backlink. Think of this as a back door to your website. The same way you can link external sites on your own website, you want external companies to link your website on theirs.

If Google sees your website linked on multiple other websites then it will rank your own site higher on the search engine. Just make sure that only reputable companies link your site with theirs

For now, that should be plenty to have never worrying about web traffic again.
